Needed: Colour Injection

I started thinking about how much I need a colour injection in my wardrobe after receiving my Rockalily lipsticks.  I purchased two; Rockette Red and Pompadour Pink.

(Picture from Rockalily)

The Rockette Red is a classic.  It goes on beautifully and is a gorgeous rich colour - very wearable.

The Pompadour Pink is striking, I love it!  It's almost neon (in a good way!) and reminds me of the shade my mum used to wear in the 80's with her body con dresses.  The lipstick itself is more glossy than the red and whenever I put it on it makes me smile.

I'll take some pictures of me wearing the lippy when I'm out and about this weekend!

The new splash of colour on my lips made me think about the colour, or lack thereof, in my wardrobe.  My wardobe is pretty devoid of colour.  I wear black...a lot.  It's hard to be able to wear a lot of colour working in a professional services firm 5 days a week, but I'm going to try!  Here are some work safe ideas I've found.

The last chance sale dance

You know how it is (at least I hope you do and I am not the only one to do this!).  You're browsing and you suddenly see an item from across the shop (a scarf, in my case) and think, "Hello!"  As you get closer, you notice it's the only one left.  You slow down; you don't want to seem too desperate for it.  Wait, though- there's another woman looking through the scarves.  It's ok as she seems to have discarded this one as she's rifling through, but wait... she's noticed me... I'm willing myself not to look at the scarf... GAH! too late - I looked!  She knows!  She's picked it up and is running it through her fingers, looking at me from the corner of her beady little eye - I should say that as soon as she picked up said scarf I made a detour for the bags - I'm breezy...(gratuitous Friends reference).

So, she's picked up the scarf and is now carrying it around the shop looking at other clothes.  But I know she doesn't want it.  She's picked it up because someone else has an interest in it - me!  I'd like to say I tackled the bitch to the ground and wrestled it off her, but the rather sad truth is I just pretended to be totally engrossed in the men's denim section until she came back and put it down, which she eventually did.  So as not to look completely psychotic, I waited until she'd left the area before snatching it up - MOOWAHAHAHAHA!

Goldfish wrap - £9.99 (reduced from £39.50).  I love the way the fish look like pac-men with tails.

Worth the psycho behaviour?

My husband was so inspired/amused by my behaviour he used the story to write the lyric for his latest Song A Week.  You can listen to Reach Out here.  As I've mentioned previously on this blog, Peter is writing a song a week in 2011 for Parkinsons UK.  Please check out his blog and donate!

Day trip to France

Saturday morning, I got up bright and early and headed over to my parents house where five of us piled in my dad's car and went on a day trip to France in aid of my mum's birthday.  We ended up spending a few hours in Le Touquet where we walked around the market, had some lunch and went for a walk on the beach.  Here's my day in pictures:

Just under 150 miles away.

So many pretty shopfronts and houses

Fresh seafood

People eating in the sunshine

Fun on the beach
